The GSA Third Grade Music students held a piano recital on Tuesday, April 19, 2011. The students were working on a keyboard unit in music and decided to showcase the skills they learned for their parents, family and friends. The students learned how to read music and play the electric piano keyboards throughout the third and fourth quarters. They performed several pieces in small groups of 10-14 students in each group. The repertoire included, “In the Light of the Moon,” “Mary Had a Little Lamb,” “March on D-E-F,” “Ode to Joy,” and several other familiar tunes. Piano solos were also played by Royal Wobbe (Turkish March) and Sophia Zellinger (Ode to Joy, advanced two hand version.)
A reception was held following the concert (while the storm raged outside!) It was a delightful evening showcasing our talented Third Grade Students.
