With all respect to the Survivors of the Holocaust

With all respect to those who perished in the Holocaust, and in remembrance of those people that survived the atrocitieses, 8th grade is learning about the challenges faced during the WWII era at home and abroad. Friday, December 7 students assembled in a small section of the classroom that was set aside to be the size of the cattle cars many Jews and other victims were transported in to the camp system.

“It was not a simulation of fear,” reminds Mrs. Savens ”because there is no way to act out the feeling of the victims. It was only a lesson about math and the dimensions of the rail cars where journeys could last many days.” The lesson that followed included a selection of Elie Wiesel’s memoir Night and his memories of that journey to Auschwitz.
