Veteran’s Day Concert, 11/11/2011

GSA held their first all school assembly on Friday, November 11 at 2
pm with a Veteran’s Day Concert.  The Third Grade Class and the 7 & 8
Grade Combined Choir presented a patriotic program dedicated to our Nation’s
Veterans, both under the direction of the GSA Music Teacher, Kriste Ludwig.
Students invited local Veterans to attend, where they were honored and treated
to a reception following the concert, organized by Mr. Cengiz Karatas.
The program began with the 7 & 8 Grade Combined Choir leading the
“Star Spangled Banner.”  Their portion of the concert included
“Let All Nations Sing,” “Bless Our Troops,”
“Jazz,” “A Long Journey to Heal,” and “Lady
Liberty.”

Sergeant First Class Randy E. Jemerson was our guest speaker. Thank
you to Sergeant Jemerson for his excellent speech. We also would like to extend
our thanks to Beau Goerger, Vice President, GSA Board of Directors for
addressing the audience and attending the program.

The Third Grade followed with their selections including “I’m so
Glad to be Here,” “Whomp,” “When Johnny Comes Marching
Home,” “Gratitude Attitude,” “This Land is Your Land,”
and “The Cat Came Back.”  The concert concluded with the whole
school joining in on the school anthem, “We Rock!”

The GSA Students also kicked off am all school month long canned food
drive in conjunction with the assembly and collected over 100 canned food items
which were donated to the Epiphany Church food pantry.
