Gateway Science Academy held its Annual College Fair on May 20, 2015

Gateway Science Academy held its Annual College Fair on May 20, 2015, which was followed by a FAFSA workshop for GSA junior students.

Many local universities were able to attend, including Saint Louis University, Washington University, Saint Louis Community College and St. Louis College of Pharmacy. Colleges from different parts of the state along with nearby states were also present including: Drury University, Lindenwood University, Millikin University, and Southern Illinois University of Carbondale.

GSA students were able to browse each stand and engage in one-on-one chats with the representatives of the various colleges. They were able to learn the requirements from each individual college and ask questions related to their interested major.

Resources, such as booklets and reference cards, were available at every stand, that offered overviews of the school campus and overall information regarding the college. Students were encouraged to retrieve these resources and fill out reference cards, even if they did not get the chance to talk to every representative.

Juniors were lead to the orchestra room at 9:30 a.m. to view a presentation relating to FAFSA. They got the chance to learn essential financial information that will help them to understand the FAFSA Application process.

The presenter, Felipe Martinez, walked them through tips and information about FAFSA. The website can be found at: fafsa.ed.gov.

Martinez said he will be returning to GSA in the Fall of 2015 to continue helping students with their FAFSA.
