Recently, the middle/high school started bringing career exploration directly to the students. On Monday, April 22nd, firefighters from our local station spoke to a group of 6th and 7th graders. The students learned about the requirements of the job, what it takes to get there, and the school subjects that they will need to concentrate on now. On Wednesday, April 24th, representatives from Peabody Energy spoke to some 8th and 9th graders about the field of engineering. They explained the different branches of engineering and what a day in the life of an engineer might look like. Both presentations focused on relating what the students are learning now to careers they may have in the future. Each career path emphasized the need for mathematics and science.
