GSA Welcomed Grandparents on 09/21/2011

The Third Grade performed for the Grandparents’ Day Assembly in the GSA Gym on Wednesday, September 21st at 9:00am.  The program began with a welcome speech delivered by Alexandra Conrad (8th grade student), followed by remarks from Debbie Fleming, and Ali Tekin, GSA Principal and a GSA Slide show presentation. The Third Graders began their portion of the program with “I’m so Glad to Be Here” and “This Land is Your Land,” and “Hey Jack,” all three with dance motions.  They also performed three songs with percussion accompaniment, “Whomp,” “Aiken Drum,” and “When Johnny Comes Marching Home.”  The students sang “We will not forget” and dedicated the performance to our nations Veterans. They concluded the program with the school anthem, “We Rock.”  After the concert the Grandparents toured the school and spent time in the classrooms with their students.  This was GSA’s first Grandparents’ Day and was attended by nearly 300 guests.
