Gateway Science Academy is best know for it’s success in robotics competitions. Robotics is now provided as a class in addition to the club for students who can’t make it after school. GSA focuses on five specific robotics competitions; FTC, Vex IQ, SeaPerch, Robocon, and Dancing Drones.
FTC (First Tech Challenge) (7th-12th)
The FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is designed for students in grades 7–12 to compete head to head, by designing, building, and programming a robot to compete in an alliance format against other teams. The robot kit is Android-based, and it is programmed using java, the Blocks programming interface, or other Android programming systems. Teams, with the guidance of coaches, mentors and volunteers, are required to develop strategy and build robots based on innovative, sound engineering principles. Awards are given for robot performance as well as for community outreach, design, and other real-world accomplishments.

SeaPerch (6th-12th)
SeaPerch is an innovative underwater robotics program that equips teachers and students with the resources they need to build an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) in an in-school or out-of-school setting.

Robocon (6th-8th)
ROBOCON, the acronym for robotic contest, is organized by Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) and its member countries including India. In this competition, the students are asked to create a robot, which has to complete a specified task within a stipulated period.
Dancing Drones (6th-8th)
The 2020 Middle School Competition will kickoff this year with: The Synchronized Dancing Drone Competition. This unique and innovative competition will merge the arts with technology as it never has never been presented before. The goal is to inspire middle school students with a diverse skill set or interest in the fields of creative arts, technology, engineering, and performance.
